Thinking single-chip IC? Think again.
A chip may look good for your LED BLU application at first, but consider the voltage the device needs across it to accurately regulate current. Is there enough voltage across the device remaining to light the LED string and provide proper current regulation?
What temperature are the LED voltages specified at? Say it is 25º C (approx. 77º F). If you were to take the LED string below 25º C (unlit) and then power the string, the LEDs may not light at all because the LED string voltage is greater.

Here’s Why Smart Force™ Drivers Make Sense:
1. The SFDL Series – This driver board is a standard product that provides high efficiency power (max. current 180 mA) to LED backlights used in LCDs up to 12.1” diagonal, with wide range dimming, wide input voltage and full brightness and enable control. It measures only 1.10” x 3.93” (27.9 x 99.8 mm), and is less than 8 mm high. It provides an onboard PWM dimming ratio of 1000:1 and external PWM dimming to 5000:1.
2. The SFDC Series – This driver board is standard product that provides a full-function LED driver (max. current 1000 mA) for high-power HBLED backlights used in LCDs up to 20.1” diagonal. It provides an onboard PWM dimming ratio of 1000:1 and external PWM dimming to a ratio of 20,000:1. It measures 1.10” x 5.61” (27.9 x 142.5 mm), and is less than 12 mm high.
Both drivers can be used with OEM panels’ existing LED backlights or with ERG’s revolutionary new Smart Force™ LED Rails. ERG can supply driver boards or kits that include driver boards with Smart Force™ LED Rails.

In addition, ERG offers variations of its two standard driver boards, including the extremely compact SFDS Saturated Driver-Limited which provides 48V input with more narrow functionality for LCDs up to 12” and measures only 34 mm x 60 mm in size. The SFDL-Limited Linear Driver-Low Profile provides wide input with limited functionality to LCDs up to 12.1”.
