ERG OFFERS UNIQUE VACUUM-ENCAPSULATED CCFL INVERTERS FOR HIGH-RELIABILITY AND RESISTANCE TO MOISTURE, SHOCK & VIBRATION
ERG337Endicott, NY, June 5, 2006 – Endicott Research Group offers a family of DC-AC inverters for powering CCFL-backlit LCDs that feature a unique vacuum-encapsulated design to ensure reliable CCF lamp ignition, even in harsh environments.

ERG’s E200II, SE/SE2 and P44/P55 Series inverters are fully vacuum-encapsulated – a design pioneered and available only from ERG – to provide maximum resistance to shock, vibration & humidity.

They provide the ideal solution for CCFL-backlit flat panel displays where compact size, high efficiency and absolute reliability of the power source are critical, such as in medical diagnostic equipment, industrial instrumentation, POS displays, high-pressure automotive type lamps.

“If you have a CCFL-backlit LCD in an application where shock, vibration or humidity are a concern,” said Bill Abbott, Director of Sales and Marketing for ERG, “these are the most reliable power source available anywhere.”

ERG’s vacuum-encapsulated inverters operate at high efficiencies, typically 80-85%, and are designed and tested using the actual LCD display assembly to ensure system compatibility. ERG’s customized magnetics are self-shielding to minimize EMI and RFI interference.

The encapsulation of the inverter enables designers to better package it with respect to the rest of the system – only the pins are exposed, so only the bottom of their printed circuit board is a “high voltage” consideration.  This is especially useful for embedded designs.

ERG offers standard units for a range of displays and applications.  The E200II can power one or two CCFLs with up to 8W of output power and is 0.60” (15.3 mm) high x 1.2” (32 mm) wide x 1.56” (39.7) mm long.  The low profile SE/SE2 Series is only 0.420” (10.66 mm) high x 0.75” (19.1 mm) wide x 2.98” (75.7 mm) long.  The SE Series provides up to 5 W of output power for single-CCFL backlights, and the SE2 Series is for two-lamp configurations.  The larger P44 Series provides a starting voltage up to 2400 Vrms and can be provided with a boost current for cold starts, with an operating range of -30º to +85ºC.  It is designed to power mid-size to large LCDs backlit by 1 to 4 CCFLs.  The P44’s dimensions are 1” (25.4 mm) wide x 2.57” (65.3 mm) long x .69” (17.5 mm) high.

All ERG vacuum-encapsulated inverters carry a one-year warranty and are designed and manufactured in the U.S.A.

Pricing for ERG’s vacuum-encapsulated DC-AC inverters starts at $8.55 in production quantities.  Contact ERG for details on pricing.  Delivery is 4 weeks A.R.O.
