ERG INTRODUCES COMPACT, LOW-PROFILE INVERTER WITH OPTIMIZED
FORM FACTOR FOR POWERING LCDs BACKLIT BY 2 OR 4 CCFLs

Endicott, NY, December 2005 – The new LDS Series inverters from Endicott Research Group (ERG) Inc. provide a high efficiency DC-AC inverter in a compact form factor for use with a range of LCD panel sizes from 6.4” to 12.1” diagonal.

Measuring only 5.24” (133.1 mm) long x 1.22” (31.0 mm) wide and less than 9 mm high, LDS Series inverters provide up to 12 watts of output power, with direct display connection and wide range PWM dimming.

“The LDS provides an economical, high-performance CCF lamp inverter in a smaller form factor, with a variety of output connector options,” explained Bill Abbott, ERG’s Director of Sales and Marketing.  “It offers a shorter, more compact version of our popular LD Series inverter geared towards standard and high bright displays in the 6.4” to 12.1” diagonal range.”

LDS Series inverters are designed to power up to four CCFLs (cold cathode fluorescent lamps) with a combined power of 12 watts.  An external analog control interfaces with an on-board pulse width modulator (PWM) to provide dimming control.  LDS inverters can reliably dim to less than 5% of duty cycle.  Operating temperature is –20°C to +70°C.

These inverters also offer expanded output connector options to meet the needs of both the OEM as well as system integrators and value-added resellers of LCDs.  “They provide a drop-in, plug-and-play solution for the majority of LCDs on the market,” said Abbott.  “And ERG can readily provide any customization that a customer might require.”
